Greet­ings & Sa­lu­ta­tions! Here’s what’s new this week in the Stan­dard Com­mu­nity…

The Stan­dard Lionettes would like to ex­press their ap­pre­ci­a­tion and grat­i­tude to all who sup­ported the an­nual “Ladies Night Out” fundraiser, from the donors to the at­ten­dees. This is what makes the event hap­pen and helps make a dif­fer­ence in the com­mu­nity. This year’s theme “Dancin Through the Decades” brought out many ladies in a wide va­ri­ety of cos­tumes, from the flap­per girls of the roar­ing 20’s to the punk rock­ers in the 80’s. A va­ri­ety show hosted by Mary Ann San­terre-Ox­toby took the ladies singing and danc­ing through the decades. Make sure to mark your cal­en­dars for next April’s Ladies Night Out. All pro­ceeds raised go to­wards com­mu­nity bet­ter­ment.

Join the Nazareth Lutheran Church for their Homy Week of ser­vices, which starts with, Maundy, on Thurs­day, April 13 at 7 pm, Good Fri­day, April 14 at 7 am, and Easter Sun­day April 16 at 10:30 am. For the chil­dren, there will be an Easter egg hunt dur­ing church, please bring your own bas­kets.

Who­ever said “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch” didn’t hear about WFCSS of­fer­ing a “Lunch & Learn” on Thurs­day, April 13 at noon. Would you like to bud­get to your ben­e­fit, max­i­mize ben­e­fits for tax pur­poses and make your money go fur­ther? This L&L is brought to you by “Money Men­tors” and is free to at­tend. Regis­tra­tion is re­quired, call 403 934 5335 to save your spot.

Did you know that the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary works to con­trib­ute to the well-be­ing and health of the com­mu­nity by provid- ing in­for­ma­tion, sup­port­ing lit­er­acy and bring­ing peo­ple to­gether. The li­brary par­tic­i­pates in the Marigold Li­brary Sys­tem, which means that the li­brary is a sin­gle point of ac­cess to millions of movies, books, CDs, DVDs, eRe­sources, events, meet­ing room ren­tals and more. Mem­ber­ship has its priv­i­leges, join to­day!!!

The East Wheat­land grad class of 2017 would like to send out their many thanks to those that do­nated bot­tles to their fundraiser.

Meet the venders; the Kransek­age Dames. If you’re Dan­ish, you know Kransek­age is a com­bi­na­tion of heaven and per­fec­tion in your mouth! You won’t want to leave their ta­ble! The Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary is hold­ing their first an­nual ‘ Not Your Stan­dard Mar­ket’ Mother’s Day Mar­ket on April 29 from 10 – 5 pm. They will have some great ven­dors, with unique and home­made items, ac­tiv­i­ties for the kids and good­ies to eat. A re­minder to all that the Nazareth Lutheran Church is host­ing a spe­cial work­shop on “Death and Dy­ing” on Sun­day, April 23 at 11:30 am. The fo­cus of the work­shop is to pre­pare you for your end of life, in­for­ma­tion re­lated to fu­ner­als, es­tates, hospice, pal­lia­tive care and how to deal with sud­den death will be shared. This ad­vice will be pre­sented by, Wheat­land Funeral Home, Wheat­land Vic­tim Ser­vices, John Getz, Getz & As­so­ciates, Dr. Joni McNeally, and Wheat­land Hospice So­ci­ety. There is no cost for the work­shop, and lunch will be pro­vided. As al­ways you are most wel­come to wor- ship with the con­gre­ga­tion at 10:30 am.
