Delia Curl­ing Club closes sea­son with Spring ‘Spiel

The Delia Curl­ing Club wrapped up a suc­cess­ful sea­son of win­ter curl­ing after host­ing their Spring Spiel on March 24 and 25.

The bon­spiel was cel­e­bra­tion of Canada’s 150th with prizes given out to the Most Pa­tri­otic Teams. Win­ning pa­tri­otic teams were: 1st place was the Barry Ma­son team edg­ing out the Donna John­son 2nd place team with their ren­di­tion of O Canada! Hon­or­able men­tion went to the Con­nie Wal­lace team. Many thanks go to Eleanor Fair and Elsie Lim­pert for judg­ing this con­test. Con­grat­u­la­tions to th­ese teams and to all those who showed their ‘true north’ pa­tri­o­tism.

Cana­dian Glow Skills com­pe­ti­tions were held Fri­day evening un­der the black lights. Win­ners of the Draw to the But­ton com­pe­ti­tion were: 1st place – Todd Wal­lace, 2nd place – Tay­lor Olm­stead and 3rd place – Alex Jaf­fray. Win­ner of the Politi­cian Bump com­pe­ti­tion which in­volved mov­ing a politi­cian from the “left” to the “right” and re­mov­ing a politi­cian from the rings was Todd Wal­lace. Much fun and laugh­ter were in­volved in this ‘skill’ and what is more Cana­dian than sat­i­riz­ing our politi­cians?

Bon­spiel Event win­ners were: A Event – Barry Ma­son team; B Event – Jared Ma­son team (it was great to see this 2016 High School Boys team to­gether again!); and C Event – Linda Sei­dler team.

The Barry Ma­son team were the win­ners of A Event and Most Pa­tri­otic Team con­test at the Delia Spring Spiel.

The Jared Ma­son team was win­ner of the B Event at the Delia Spring Spiel.
