Easter rink wins Men’s league
Men’s League at the Drumheller Curling Club wrapped up and the Easter Rink took the win over the Ken Olsen team.
The final for the season was played out on March 29 and David Easter says it was an exciting finish. After blanking the first end, they gave up a steal of 3 in the second end to go down early. The team was a little rocky the next couple of ends and were down 5-2 after 4.
“We turned it up after I made a draw for two in the fifth and played an amazing sixth end, managing to steal one to tie the game 5-5,” he said. “The team was on fire in the seventh end and we got a crucial steal of two points to lead by two heading into the final end.”
The team didn’t miss a shot in the eighth and were able to run their opponent out of stones with a runback takeout on the final shot.
Easter said it was a team effort as James MacDonald, Kayla Clampitt, and Jay Mulgrew all played really well and gave their all sweeping throughout the game.
“James and Kayla especially worked hard in the last end by sweeping a number of rocks end to end and helping us make some key shots to seal the deal,” he said. “It was a great season in which we only lost two games, and we’re very excited to have won the championship after finishing second last year!”
