Here’s what’s new this week in the Stan­dard Com­mu­nity…

The Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary is hav­ing a sin­gle item silent auc­tion. This auc­tion will run from April 15 - April 30, 7 pm clos­ing. A beau­ti­ful vin­tage wood & glass dis­play cab­i­net with mea­sure­ments of 38x24x54. The start­ing bid is $100.00 with in­cre­ments of $5.00 ac­cepted. A new walk­ing / cy­cling path has many ben­e­fits, from im­prov­ing phys­i­cal health to lift­ing mood, pro­mot­ing re­lax­ation, im­prov­ing con­cen­tra­tion, has­ten­ing heal­ing and fa­cil­i­tat­ing so­cial con­nect­ed­ness. Na­ture seems to have it all, and soon the Vil­lage of Stan­dard will too with the de­vel­op­ment of Mem­ory Lane Park! The Stan­dard Com­mu­nity Fa­cil­ity En­hance­ment Society, which is the society work­ing on this project, is ex­tend­ing an open in­vi­ta­tion to all com­mu­nity mem­bers to be a part of their an­nual meet­ing. It will be held on Thurs­day, April 27, at 7:30 pm. The Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary is hold­ing their first an­nual ‘Not Your Stan­dard Mar­ket’ Mother’s Day Mar­ket on April 29 from 10 – 5 pm. They will have some great ven­dors, with unique and home­made items, ac­tiv­i­ties for the kids and good­ies to eat. The Coun­try Kids Child Care Cen­ter will be sell­ing a va­ri­ety of crafts and art to raise money to go to­wards their out­door play space. There will be gifts for Mom with a wide va­ri­ety of items rang­ing from spa items to art work avail­able. This is a kids only space where the chil­dren may buy gifts for their mother’s (wrap­ping in­cluded). CKCC is also of­fer­ing the ‘Kids’ Cor­ral’ where there will be arts and craft ac­tiv­i­ties avail­able for chil­dren free of charge, keep­ing them busy so par­ents can en­joy the awe­some lineup of lo­cal ven­dors. You still have an op­portu- nity to give a piece of your time to help in­stall the new play­ground at East Wheat­land School. To vol­un­teer, you must be at least 18 years old and steel toed boots may be re­quired. Here is the form to fill out to vol­un­teer:­gyW0hNUPPRY63. This vol­un­teer project will run from 8-5 pm, May 9-12, with a pos­si­bil­ity of the 13 as well. Lunch and snacks will be pro­vided. There will be no child­care avail­able on site. Chem­i­cal Round-Up! The County will be hav­ing a chem­i­cal round-up on Satur­day, May 13, 2017 at the Stan­dard Waste Transfer Site. Stay tuned for more de­tails to come.
