Hello 0rkney...l hope you’re staying in good humor considering the weather this last while. ‘
Last Thursday night was the Annual meeting and I’m sorry to report it was a very small turnout. Perhaps some didn’t know but it seems there is less and less interest in the community to put an effort into doing something that is fun and can also bring in some revenue. Yes, at certain times of the year things are really busy, that is a given but I often wonder how much of their heritage a lot of the younger ones know or appreciate. I hope it is all of them.
The new president for the Association is Jocelyn Sorenson and new board members are Crystal Ferguson and Donald Mueller. Crystal and Jocelyn are the people to contact regarding the rental of the hall so if anyone asks you who to contact you know.
Last Thursday I had Scott Toivanen, Jane Toivanen and her friend Mike from Red Deer and Friday they took me to Calgary for medical appointments and then we ventured to the casino for a short time, not much money made, had supper and came home. Saturday we were at Wayne for supper and Sunday were at home.
Many LATE NIGHTS and lots of card games but a fun time. They went back to Red Deer Monday afternoon.
The new project for the Association is to repair the picnic tables and they would like a good turn out‚ when this happens at a later date. The Annual Orkney Sports Day is the usual Father’s Day weekend and the Saturday, June 17. More details on that at a later date.
Have a good week and here is a saying from Joel Alexander: “Feelings change....memories don’t.”
