“As the world around us is growing we are getting more connected, I think students should be aware of this and how to deal with different cultures. If someone lives in one place their whole life and never goes out of their culture and they go into something it’s a culture shock.”
She says it also helps build the school community.
“It gets the students together, and it is something fun,” she said. “I think when I walk around my school, kids say ’we’re Canadian’ and that’s great, but sometimes they almost don’t remember their own culture. I think it is important to value your own background.”
Community support for the project was also strong and they were able to garner support from the Bank of Montreal, which sponsored the prizes, and the Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce sponsored the dance performance. mark it on your calendar.

Preschool library visit on Wednesday, May 17, preschool will be visiting the library and exploring the topic of Spring and Blooms.
A TREX Art Exhibit “Wind” will be a the library from May 18 to June 12, 2017. Wind is a touring art exhibition coming to our library and the exhibition includes art from Reinhold Pinter exploring the many variations of wind from gentle summer breeze to raging tornado, from whispered secrets to the distribution of ideas, and from the mythological West Wind to the Aztec deity Ehecatl.
Birthday greetings to Heather Van Horne and Heidi Petersen on May 15, and to Shirley Friedley on the 20th. The Friedley twins, Tanner and Tyler also share a birthday with Shirley on the 20th. Have a happy special day!
