Letters to the Editor
at school, and let them have a hidden joy kept secret and take home, to perhaps surprise their Mother or Father, or whoever is there for them that they love and admire? It doesn’t seem to matter for those that are a part of the Albert McMahon Elementary School team.
So, how about this...Albert McMahon Elementary School team, let the kids make their prize to take home for whomever they want to give it to, they really want to you know. If you don’t eat meat, then don’t partake. If you are afraid of Hallowe’en, then don’t dress up. I knew Hallowe’en was under attack a few years ago. So, in some schools, it is no costumes...it is now called “orange and black day” (how fun is that?) and the best holiday and remembrance of all, Christmas and in some schools, is now referred to as the “winter holiday”. But in all my years, I never imagined that Mother’s Day and Father’s Day would be struck down.
So, I have called this school and sent a letter to them also, to resist this over-the-top goofy notion of not letting kids make a special gift in their Grade 1 and 2 classes, for their Mom or Dad to help them honor Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. The only way we are going to beat this politically correct nonsense is to stand up to it and challenge it. I would encourage any of you... Canadians, immigrants, students, mothers, fathers, grandparents, friends etc., those who believe in our Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebration, to write and state your opinion and mail to this address...ALBERT MCMAHON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 32865 Cherry Avenue, Mission B.C, V2V-2V1 or call the school at 604-8260274. Something they forget is that we all pay the money to our respective governments who have all the say and make all the rules for the school systems across Canada.
I hope every Canadian who believes in Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, will fight back and I hope this ridiculous decision is reversed. Every single child in this entire world and in this small BC school has a mother and a father. “Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mother’s in society” and I say, God bless ‘em!
