Greetings & Salu­ta­tions! Here’s what’s new this week in the Stan­dard Com­mu­nity.

Kurt Von­negut said, “To prac­tice any art, no mat­ter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow.” Chelsey Tel­lier is of­fer­ing sum­mer art classes in Stan­dard. Lessons for kids ages 8 - 12 and 12+. Lessons to com­mence mid­dle of June (4 or 6 classes) Mon­day and/or Wed­nes­day af­ter­noons. Op­tions avail­able as well for all ages pri­vate and small group lessons in 2-D and 3-D arts. A kiln has been ac­quired for pot­tery and ce­ram­ics, stay tuned for class up­dates & regis­tra­tion! Re­trac­tion - The Stan­dard Lionettes would like to clar­ify their ‘Thank You’ that was in the Strath­more Times. The Strath­more Times in­ad­ver­tently used part of last year’s tem­plate, which stated that pro­ceeds would be go­ing to­wards the East Wheat­land School play­ground, when in ac­tual- ity the pro­ceeds from this year’s Ladies Night will be used for Com­mu­nity Bet­ter­ment. Thank you again to all the donors and at­ten­dees who make this fun night a suc­cess.

The Stan­dard Waste Trans­fer Site Sum­mer Hours (May 1 to Oct. 31) are as fol­lows; Mon­day, Fri­day and Satur­day - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Haz­ardous House­hold Waste Re­cy­cling Roundup is on! Bring in your haz­ardous house­hold waste (pes­ti­cides, bat­tery acid, chem­i­cals etc.), as well as un­wanted com­put­ers, TVs and old paint, to the Stan­dard Waste Trans­fer Site on May 13 from 9-5 pm.
