Big Valley Bulletin
Big Valley’s Purple Park was given an upgrade with the installation of a new dome climber this past Saturday, May 20. Teamwork and community spirit were in evidence every step of the way as the Big Valley Elks members brought in their equipment and spent the day assembling and installing the new climber while a group of kids watched eagerly from the sidelines. Impatiently waiting until the concrete supporting the feature had set, the kids began clambering over the installation as soon as they got the go-ahead. Many thanks to our Elks for this welcomed addition to our popular playground.
The Big Valley ball diamonds are as busy as ever with 4 minor ball teams and 8 Slo-pitch teams seeing action. Once again, there will be 2 big ball tournaments this summer with the Big Valley Ag Society hosting one on the June 23 weekend and the Big Valley Fire Department hosting theirs on the July 28 weekend. Thanks to donations made by the Legion and Royal Purple, two new items have been installed at the ball diamond playground and updates will continue. We are all very fortunate to have the sponsorship of our local service groups who continue to enhance our community in so many ways.
The Big Valley Elks Annual Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, May 28 at the Big Valley golf course. Breakfast and registration begin at the Clubhouse at 8:00 a.m. with tee off at 10:00 a.m. The tournament will be the usual 9 holes, Texas Scramble, followed by beef on a bun and some fun prizes. The Elks invite everyone to come out and join them.
The Big Valley Bust Out Rodeo has been rescheduled for July 28 and 29. Due to overwhelming spring moisture and the preparation of the new outdoor arena, the Big Valley Bust Out Rodeo committee has made the tough call to reschedule their annual rodeo so they can ensure the ground is properly prepared and provides the safest possible conditions for all of the rodeo athletes, horses and stock.
