Power crews busy with storm out­ages

Tues­day evening’s wind­storm not only wreaked havoc on trees and yards, but also tem­po­rar­ily knocked power out for hun­dreds. Ac­cord­ing to the For­tis Al­berta Web­site res­i­dents in the Rose­bud and Hus­sar ar­eas were with­out power since 5 p.m. Tues­day, May 23. Shortly be­fore noon, it was re­stored to these ar­eas.

Sylvia Adams of ATCO Electric said the com­pany set up an in­ci­dent com­mand cen­tre in Drumheller to deal with lo­cal power is­sues.

She said of noon May 26, cus­tomers in Three Hills, Drumheller, Row­ley, Stet­tler, Buf­falo lake Hanna and Cas­tor ex­pe­ri­enced some out­agLs She said if res­i­dents en­counter downed power lines or trees touch­ing wires, to keep clear of the area and re­port it.
