Rumsey & District Register

The Drumheller Mail - - DRUMHELLERWORKS.COM - Patty Steen 403-368-3820

Here we are on the last day of May and summer will be over in a blink of an eye or so it shall seem. The warm days always fly by so quickly. The seeding continues at a busy pace. I hope the farmers will work safely and get done soon. The Garden club wanted me to let everyone know that this years’ book is out if you would like to get a copy to plan your garden planting. Remember that there is the childrens garden plot category as well which is always fun for our young gardeners of the community. Pick up a book at the post office or from Mary Newton or Diane McBride soon.

The Rumsey/Rowley 4-H beef club members are getting busy with their last minute preparations as their show and sale will be this coming Monday at the Delia Arena starting at 9:00 am. This is the day where all those months of hard work pay off so let’s go cheer on our youth and see how well they do.

With Drew Tolman getting busy with his wedding preparations, I have taken on his job of contact person for the Rumsey Sports Days slowpitch tournament. If you had a team in last year, please let me know if you will be entering again; I will try to call around to last year’s teams but please call as I am not sure I have everyone’s numbers. If you haven’t been in our tournament before please call and I would love to add you to the list. We offer free camping on the grounds and lots of fun for the whole weekend. Contact me at 403368-3820 or 403-740-4601, thanks.

There will be two more showers in our community hall. Baylee Nelson and Cody Goddard’s shower will be held Thursday, June 1 starting at 7:30 and Drew Tolman and Shayla Sandum’s shower will be held the following Thursday, June 8 starting at 7:30 as well. Kennady and Justin have sent out a big thank you to all the community for the gifts they received and the people that came to celebrate with them at their shower last Thursday night. Also, I am still collecting for Colby Couturier and Alyssa Yavis’s wedding gift. They have lots to celebrate as they have just had a beautiful baby boy, Owen James, at the end of April and now will be getting busy planning their wedding for the end of July. Grandparents, Sabrina and Terry Couturier are very happy with all the good news. They are also celebrating the graduation of their baby girl, Shelby, from Morrin High School at the end of June. A quote for the Grads:

“You must never feel badly about making mistakes… as long as you take the trouble to learn from them. For you often learn more by being wrong for the right reasons than you do by being right for the wrong reasons,”

(Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth)

Have a great week, everyone.
