The Drumheller Mail - - DRUMHELLERWORKS.COM -

What a beautiful weekend weather wise. The green grass and new leaves are a pleasant site.

This week’s lucky winner of the Munson 300 Raffle Draw is Dan and Elaine Moe. Congratulations and thanks for supporting the community Association.

Don’t forget June 13 is the Annual General Meeting for the Morrin School Parent Council at 7:00 PM. This is your way of having a voice in what happens at your school and to have a better idea of what is happening at the school.

On October 16, there will be a School Board Election and they are looking for interested people to join in the running. For more details check out the Prairie Land website at http:// plrd. ab. ca/ School% 20 Board% 20Elections% 202017. php

There will be no school on June 5. The 4H Beef Show and Sale will take place on June 5 at Delia. Good luck to all the 4Hers and congratulations on all your hard work for the year.

On Saturday, June 10 the Drumheller and District 4H clubs will be celebrating 100 years of 4H in Alberta. The event is open to everyone. It starts at 2:00 with registration and displays. At 3:00 there will be a program, followed by Heritage and 4H games. There will be live entertainment. At 5:00 there will be pizza served and at 6:30 Blake Reid will perform. For ticket information contact Melanie Nelson at 403-772-0000.

Here is some food for thought: When you’re on time, you avoid stress. They may not express it, but the people you work with will appreciate the fact that you’re not late. They won’t have any reason to be mad at you or to think you don’t respect their time. You’ll stop rushing, and because you won’t be so hurried, you will relax a little bit and have slightly more time to reflect.

Have a good week and take care of yourself. Rotary is a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide in more than 200 countries. For more information about the Rotary Club of Drumheller go to www.drumhellerrotary.com

It will be fun – exciting – take your chance and you may win $5,000. All of this is possible because Rotary is up to something new. The Big Ball Bounce takes place at 2 pm on August 5.

Here’s how it works: Numbered lacrosse balls will be loaded onto a dump truck. The box will be raised and the balls will roll down the northern portion of centre street. The ball finishing closest to the target wins the big money. In addition to all of this, there is an early-bird draw for $500 on June 26.

Tickets have gone on sale and already Chair Barb Campbell reports sales are brisk. Wouldn’t it be a good promotion to have Barb sit in a tub with 2,000 lacrosse balls. And, as usual, the more tickets you buy the more Rotary can do to support the youth of our community. Let’s all get into this action. Tickets are available by contacting a Rotarian, or give Barb a call at 8233165 and arrangements will be made to deliver the tickets to you.

Rotary is very active in encouraging and supporting youth. This year, for example, there are four trips for students to travel as far away as Ottawa and Wisconsin, our Polish Exchange students, scholarships and various projects which also include families and seniors.

More information is coming. Rotary will be the major sponsor of the first ‘Spark Your Spark’ day that will bring together 10 – 18 year-old students from Standard, Carbon, Morrin, Delia and the Drumheller VSalley. This fall students will get the opportunity to try something they’ve thought about, doing anything from boxing to cooking. Knowledgeable instructors will be brought together for this event.

Thanks to the community for the continued wonderful support at the White Elephant Sale. Chairman Graham Giffin, fellow club members, Friends of Rotary and 4-H banded together to raise funds for various projects.

We welcome our newest member Phyllis Anderson.
