4-H beef tips dol­lar scales at Drumheller Show & Sale

Fun was had by all at the an­nual Drumheller District 4-H Beef Show and Sale on Mon­day, June 5. 29 mem­bers walked away with an av­er­age over­all price of $3.09 per pound.

Kennedy Paget won Grand Cham­pion as well as the ju­nior groom­ing and show­man­ship cat­e­gories. Her 1,342 lb steer was sold to West­ern GM in Drumheller for $4.75 per pound.

Run­ner-up Re­serve Cham­pion was claimed by Cor­byn Stone­man with his 1,285 pound steer which sold for $4.25 per pound to Wester­gard Ford in Drumheller.

Best rate of gain went to Zoe Avra­menko and the Best Pen of Three went to the Rum­sey-Row­ley Beef Club.

For se­niors, McKen­zie Paget won first in groom­ing, show­man­ship and judg­ing. Her brother Jace Paget also won first in groom­ing and show­man­ship in the in­ter­me­di­ate age group.

The in­ter­me­di­ate judg­ing com­pe­ti­tion first place win­ner was Amanda Holowath with Cole Mor­lock in re­serve po­si­tion.

Re­serve ju­nior groom­ing went to Car­son Mor­lock. For the in­ter­me­di­ate groom­ing, Jace Paget claimed top place with Cor­byn Stone­man as re­serve cham­pion.

For ju­nior show­man­ship, Kennedy Paget claimed grand cham­pion and re­serve cham­pion went to Ca­dynce Richmond. In­ter­me­di­ate show­man­ship win­ner was Jace Paget with Braden Best in sec­ond. In the se­nior age group, McKen­zie Paget placed first with Brett Holowath tak­ing sec­ond.

Lastly, Grand Cham­pion Fe­male went to Liam McDougald with Amanda Holowath in re­serve.

Dur­ing the sup­per be­fore the sale, Quinn Nel­son and Liam McDougald shared the $500 Car­lie Bell Me­mo­rial Schol­ar­ship.

There was no stall dec­o­rat­ing com- pe­ti­tion within the district as it is the 100 year cel­e­bra­tion of 4-H in Al­berta.

In hon­our of the 100 year mark, the Drumheller District has or­ga­nized an event to cel­e­brate.

It will be lo­cated in Row­ley on Satur­day, June 10 start­ing at 2:00 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. 4-H centennial singer and song­writer Blake Reid will be on scene to per­form. He cre­ated the song ‘Room to Grow’ in cel­e­bra­tion of the mile­stone.
