Best wishes to Gerri Shadlock who had a health scare last week and ended up in the hospital in Calgary on Tuesday to have surgery to insert a stint in an artery. Please keep on getting better Gerri. She will probably be home from the hospital this Monday.
On Monday, May 22 Liam McDougald, son of Brad and Koren, had the honour of playing in the Senior Bowl which is the Provincial High School Football All-Star game at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. It was the south vs. the north and the team from the south with Liam playing won 29-15. Way to go Liam.
We went to the Hand Hills Stampede this weekend. What a crowd of people! The weather was great and the action was also. It has become a world class event although those of us old enough to remember loved the quieter days. I was one month old when I went to my first Hand Hills Stampede and I am not saying how long ago that was!
Congratulations to Barry Keirle who was showing his vintage car in the Boogie in the Badlands car show last weekend. He won best in the show for Chrysler with his 1958 Dodge Royal two door hard top. The trophy was presented by Drumheller Chrysler. Barry also took the car to the Three Hills Car Show this weekend. A great hobby for your retirement Barry!

Now that summer is upon us and trees and shrubs are growing rapidly, it is a good time for both the Town of Drumheller and homeowners to ensure that the sidewalks adjacent to their properties are pedestrian friendly. Two pedestrians should be able to walk comfortably side-by-side along the street.
Are there tree branches overhanging the sidewalks that are endangering pedestrians? Have hedges become too wide, encroaching on the sidewalks and narrowing the walking areas? Have lawns been allowed to overgrow the walkways?
Local walkers and tourists will certainly appreciate your efforts. Come on Drumheller, let’s make our community pedestrian friendly. Corinne Gerling
