Did you see the video of the tornado at Three Hills? Pretty scary and too close to home. Have not heard of any reports of damage so far, hopefully it only touched down in a field.
Last week a celebration of life was held for Gordon Roberts at the Delia Drop In Centre. Gordon was a long time resident of Delia and was greatly missed when he relocated to Drumheller, Gordon passed away at the age of one hundred and one! His wife, Irene, and daughter, Muriel, would like to thank the ladies at the Drop In Centre for the lunch served at the memorial that day.
Lots of good things happening in Delia these days – there is no excuse not to be busy in Delia, something is always happening in our little village! To begin with – a reminder to all former Delia 4-H er’s - the Club is getting ready to celebrate the 4-H Centennial and needs your family 4-H history for the Club display. Templates are available at the Library or from Janice Hoover. You can reach Janice by email: email@example.com or phone 403 364-2040. The 4-H celebration is Saturday, June 10 and advance tickets are required. All are welcome to attend!
No matter what you are doing next Saturday, June 10, make sure you take time to visit Delia, for there are going to be several garage sales going on in our community that day! Make time to search them all- you will surely find the treasure you are looking for! Everything from household items, yard and garden equipment, books – the list is too long to mention here. Come see for yourself!
A Community Committee has looked at holding Canada 150 celebration events for our village. We are looking at a Canada 150 Pancake Breakfast in September with a variety of events. Then in October there will be a special Canada 150 Fall Fair celebration with extended community events. We are looking for volunteers and organizations to make these fun filled events happen and if you can contribute please free up a bit of time to attend a community meeting on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. at the Delia School Lunchroom. The Delia Library is sponsoring an Elder Abuse Awareness Walk on Wednesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. They are inviting everyone to come out and walk for Elder Abuse Awareness, starting at the Drop In Centre. The walk will end at the Delia School Playground with lifesize games and watermelon. For information or to be a volunteer please contact Leah at 403 364 3777.
Fun events at the Delia School this summer!! Just to briefly mention a few – Senior High and Adult Beach Volley Ball – July 13 – August 10, Coed Junior High Volley Ball Camp August 8 – 11, Toddlers Mini Sports Camp for toddlers 2 to 6 years in August 1- 4 at the Delia School , –Adult Coed Beach Ball – You can keep busy, keep trim and have so much fun!
