Pioneer Trail Centre
Sorry there wasn’t much news to report last week except one thing - on Saturday, May 27, four of our members travelled to High River for the Alberta 55 Plus fall Provincial qualifiers for Floor Shuffleboard. Linda Traquair, Margaret Neilsen, played on the 55 Plus team; Mike and Barbara Barker played on the 70 Plus team. They were not successful but had a lot of fun, met some great people and had a great lunch.
On Tuesday, May 30 we held our monthly meeting with three guests attending. Erica Laycock from Alberta Health Services presented the Healthy Living program and left some leaflets as well as her card. If anyone is interested, please drop in and pick up her card.
Heather Colberg is letting her name stand for Mayor for the Town of Drumheller and is asking for input from seniors in our area.
Rose Poulson gave a report of the activities for Seniors Week which is being held June 5 to 11. It looks like the seniors will have a busy week with a pancake breakfast, games, entertainment, barbecue, etc. We send out a big thank you to all those people who honour us.
Our roof will be finished this week which we will be very happy about (no more pails to catch the drips on a rainy day).
We are in need of a volunteer host or hostess for Thursday and Friday afternoons. Please phone 403-826-6565 or Daisie at 403-823-7074 to put your name on the list.
On June 1 we had a group of seniors from Calgary (walking club) come in for coffee and snacks.
The Travel Club has a trip to Saskatoon Farm planned for June 14. Phone Janice at 403-463-2547 if you would like to go.
We have a very large selection of cookbooks, so come in and check them out and enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat.
On Friday, June 16 from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m., we will be celebrating Father’s Day with a barbecue. For more information, look for the posters. Enjoy Senior’s Week. “Life is brief and fragile. There is no time to leave important words unsaid or deeds undone.”
