We picked about the worst day of the sum­mer for our Com­mu­nity Garage Sale on Satur­day – wild winds, and cold enough to snow! But how can you tell? A lot of peo­ple did brave the weather to come out and most of the garage sales went on as sched­uled, pre­haps we will try an­other day and have bet­ter luck next time.

A Com­mu­nity com­mit­tee has looked at hold­ing Canada 150 celebration events in our Vil­lage. They are think­ing of hav­ing a Canada 150 Pan­cake Breakfast in Septem­ber with a va­ri­ety of events. Then in Oc­to­ber there will be a spe­cial Canada 150 Fall Fair Celebration with ex­tended com­mu­nity events. The com­mit­tee is look­ing for vol­un­teers and or­ga­ni­za­tions to make th­ese fun filled events hap­pen, if you can con­trib­ute please free up a bit of time to at­tend a com­mu­nity meet­ing on Wed­nes­day, June 14, at 7:30 p.m., at the Delia School Lunch­room. The El­der Abuse Walk will take place Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon, June 14, at 2 p.m., The walk will start at the Drop In Cen­tre and end at the Delia School play­ground with games, wa­ter­melon, and fun.

Birth­day party for mem­bers and friends at the Delia Drop In Cen­tre on June 14, at 2 p.m., with Doreen and Eva as hostesses. Come for a fun af­ter­noon and re­fresh­ments, ev­ery­one wel­come. Potluck lunch is on at the Drop In at 12 noon on Thurs­day, June 15.

The Delia Li­brary and Hanna Golden Prairie Par­ent Link are try­ing a new preschool playgroup that ex­plores and en­cour­ages chil­dren to move and be ac­tive through play. Come en­joy be­ing ac­tive through ac­tiv­i­ties, crafts, sto­ries and songs. Please con­tact Leah at 403 364 3777 or Shauna at 403 857 9553.

The Am­a­teur Painters Group that has been hav­ing ses­sions at the school has been can­celled for the sum­mer, but hope­fully will re­sume when school starts in the Fall. It’s been fun, see you in Septem­ber. For more in­for­ma­tion about this group you may call 403 364 2149.

Com­mu­ni­ties in Bloom meets this Wed­nes­day. One of the top­ics for dis­cus­sion is the lack of grass clip­pings for mulching the flower pots. If you have clean (no chick­weed) clip­pings that you’d be will­ing to do­nate please con­tact Bev Hall at 364 2260.

The Delia United Church is will­ing to spon­sor up to half the fee for chil­dren wish­ing to at­tend Bar Har­bour Camp this sum­mer. Talk to Mrs. MacDougall at the school for more in­for­ma­tion.
