Students release butterflies with seniors
Greentree School Grade three student Gage Poland shows off one of the nurtured butterflies on a popsicle stick to residents at the Sunshine Lodge on June 20. The Grade 3 class has recently learned about the life cycle through the insect’s experience and went to the lodge to get involved in the community. “One of the objectives is to observe the life cycle of an animal,” said Grade three teacher Penny Messom. “Earlier in the year we hatched chicken eggs with an incubator and then we got caterpillars in May to watch the process of metamorphosis.” Each student was able to have their own caterpillar sit on their desk in a container for the three week period.
