What an amaz­ing turn out for the vil­lage of Stan­dard’s an­nual Sport’s Days week­end! All events were well re­ceived. The ad­di­tion of the mini rodeo has been a huge hit. The spec­ta­tor stands were full watch­ing the young cow­boys and cow­girls com­pete in the many events. One of the biggest high­lights was the free gen­eral ad­mis­sion to all. See you next year, same time, same place!

Win­ners from the golf ball drop can pick up their prizes from Gate’s Agen­cies. The win­ners are; Jo­layne Chris­tensen – golf cer­tifi­cate at Rose­bud; Ja­clyn Gau­thier – golf gear, pro­vided by Hi Stan­dard Spray­ing; Brett Gates – golf cer­tifi­cate at Bas­sano; Morinne Gre­gory – Wine Bas­ket, pro­vided by Getz & As­so­ciates; Brett Gates – Porl Psk, pro­vided by Van Laar Farms; Alan Larsen – golf gear, pro­vided by Hi Stan­dard Spray­ing; Tyler Walker – en­try into the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary’s an­nual golf tour­na­ment; Carol Al­lard - en­try into the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary’s an­nual golf tour­na­ment; Alan Larsen – leg gift cer­tifi­cate, pro­vided by Scott & Sonya Elias. On be­half of the Kids Zone or­ga­niz­ers, thank you to the Stan­dard Li­ons for pro­vid­ing the kids area and thank you to the Stan­dard Lionettes for pro­vid­ing the pedal trac­tors, they were a big hit!

Dog li­censes are due for 2017. Only two dogs are per­mit­ted per house­hold. Fees are payable at the vil­lage of- Vil- fice.

Clif­ford the Big Red Dog has been vis­it­ing the Vil­lage of Stan­dard this past week. First he vis­ited with the Vil­lage of Stan­dard’s Li­brary Man­ager, Adreena Harder the Wheat­land Cross­ing Ele­men­tary stu­dents to help pro­mote the TD Sum­mer Read­ing pro­grams be­ing of­fered at their lo­cal li­braries. Next off to see Mayor Alan Larsen, and vis­ited the kids at Coun­try Kids Child Care cen­ter. He par­tic­i­pated in the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary’s pa­rade float with his owner Emily El­iz­a­beth (played by Jenna Mil­ton) and could be found at the Kids Zone dur­ing the Vil­lage of Stan­dard’s An­nual Sports Days week­end, danc­ing and giv­ing hi-fives and hugs. Clif­ford also, got in­volved with the Golf Ball Drop fundraiser by be­ing lifted way up in the bas­ket of the cherry picker and drop­ping the golf balls. A big thank you to Clif­ford and the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal li­brary for ar­rang­ing his visit!

One of the cor­ner stones in Freema­sonry is giv­ing back to the com­mu­nity’s that they are a part of. Every day ap­prox­i­mately two mil­lion dol­lars is given to char­ity by all Ma­sonic or­ga­ni­za­tions. Please join the Hus­sar Lodge in cel­e­brat­ing 95 years in the com­mu­nity at their open house on July 1 from 2 – 5 pm at the Hus­sar Ma­sonic Lodge, with gen­eral in­for­ma­tion, tours and sym­bol­ism ex­plained. There will be face paint­ing and pin­wheels for the kids and a draw for a Glen­fid­dich gift bas­ket to all “po­ten­tial” ma­sons that take a tour. See you there!
