Greetings & Salutations! Here’s what’s new this week in the Standard Community…
What an amazing turn out for the village of Standard’s annual Sport’s Days weekend! All events were well received. The addition of the mini rodeo has been a huge hit. The spectator stands were full watching the young cowboys and cowgirls compete in the many events. One of the biggest highlights was the free general admission to all. See you next year, same time, same place!

Clifford the Big Red Dog has been visiting the Village of Standard this past week. First he visited with the Village of Standard’s Library Manager, Adreena Harder the Wheatland Crossing Elementary students to help promote the TD Summer Reading programs being offered at their local libraries. Next off to see Mayor Alan Larsen, and visited the kids at Country Kids Child Care center. He participated in the Standard Municipal Library’s parade float with his owner Emily Elizabeth (played by Jenna Milton) and could be found at the Kids Zone during the Village of Standard’s Annual Sports Days weekend, dancing and giving hi-fives and hugs. Clifford also, got involved with the Golf Ball Drop fundraiser by being lifted way up in the basket of the cherry picker and dropping the golf balls. A big thank you to Clifford and the Standard Municipal library for arranging his visit!
One of the corner stones in Freemasonry is giving back to the community’s that they are a part of. Every day approximately two million dollars is given to charity by all Masonic organizations. Please join the Hussar Lodge in celebrating 95 years in the community at their open house on July 1 from 2 – 5 pm at the Hussar Masonic Lodge, with general information, tours and symbolism explained. There will be face painting and pinwheels for the kids and a draw for a Glenfiddich gift basket to all “potential” masons that take a tour. See you there!
This is Adreena reporting for the Village of Standard. Please submit newz items to the standardnewz@gmail. com phone 403-644-3995 or stop in at the library. Have a great week friends!!!
