Shake-up on PLRD board

There was a shake-up on the Prairie Land Re­gional Di­vi­sion (PLRD) board as one Trus­tee was con­firmed el­i­gi­ble, an­other in­di­cated they would be ten­der­ing their res­ig­na­tion.

The Mail re­ported in its May 31 edi­tion that at a di­vi­sion meet­ing, the board voted to re­move one of its Trustees Jada Hill for miss­ing three con­sec­u­tive meet­ings. Ac­cord­ing to the School Act, if the trus­tee could pro­vide a med­i­cal cer­tifi­cate, cer­ti­fy­ing their ab­sence, the trus­tee would be al­lowed to con­tinue to serve.

Board chair Marsh Tkach tells The Mail that at the June 15 board meet­ing Trus­tee Hill was rec­og­nized as el­i­gi­ble to serve.

The meet­ing took a turn how­ever as board chair Tkach noted that Trus­tee Dean Hansen had also missed three con­sec­u­tive meet­ings and he has in­di­cated to her he would be ten­der­ing his res­ig­na­tion. He rep­re­sents Hanna Ru­ral

“I haven’t re­ceived it yet but he in­di­cated he will,” said Tkach.

It was also noted that a by-elec­tion would not take place as the Gen­eral Mu­nic­i­pal Elec­tion is com­ing up in Oc­to­ber.
