En­joy an evening out with So­phie’s Rus­tic Sign Paint Night. Com­plete with guided in­struc­tion and all sup­plies in a fun re­laxed en­vi­ron­ment where you can be cre­ative and con­nect with others. Take home a per­son­al­ized sign that is unique to you. The Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary’s TD Sum­mer Reading pro­gram kicks off this Satur­day, July 8 at 12:30 pm. Regis­tra­tion is free! For kids 12 years and younger, there will be sto­ries and bingo, Clifford’s Big Movie, and car­ni­val style eats. For the teens, we have fun for you too, com­plete chal­lenges to be en­tered to win a gift bas­ket which in­cludes 4 passes to Cal­away Park. Li­brary mem­ber­ship not re­quired, but as al­ways, en­cour­aged.

Spring Clean­ing??? The garbage truck is avail­able for use, just call the of­fice and sched­ule a time. Pub­lic works will drop off and pick it up when done and take it to the trans­fer site.

Are you 50 + and need­ing to get into Cal­gary? The se­nior’s cen­ter or­ga­nizes trips into Cal­gary for shop­ping or ap­point­ments. The next trip in is on Tues­day, July 11 and the des­ti­na­tion is the Mar­ket Mall. Here are the par­tic­u­lars; your care as­sis­tant is wel­come to join you, sign up is at the se- nior’s cen­ter by noon the Fri­day be­fore de­par­ture, mem­ber­ship is not re­quired, bus departs from Stan­dard at 8:15 am and leaves Cal­gary at 3 pm. Ice Cream in the park is back. On Tues­day, July 11, from 2 -3 pm join in for a pic­nic with sto­ries, songs, crafts, games, and yummy ice cream. This pro­gram is brought to you by 5 for Life and is free to at­tend, no regis­tra­tion re­quired. Please bring a blan­ket or chair to sit on. In case of rain it will be moved in­doors to the Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary.

Only two sports have ever been played on the moon, one is golf, and the other is the javelin throw. Save The Date - Fri­day, July 21, 2017. You can test your skills at this year’s Stan­dard Mu­nic­i­pal Li­brary’s an­nual golf tour­na­ment fundraiser. In­cludes, 18 holes of best ball golf, the ever-pop­u­lar prime rib sup­per, a silent auc­tion and tons of prizes or join in for sup­per only. The li­brary is grate­fully ac­cept­ing prize, or silent auc­tion do­na­tions. Hole spon­sor­ship is avail­able and in­cludes 2 tick­ets to the prime rib sup­per.
