Enjoy an evening out with Sophie’s Rustic Sign Paint Night. Complete with guided instruction and all supplies in a fun relaxed environment where you can be creative and connect with others. The Standard Municipal Library’s TD Summer Reading program kicks off this Saturday, July 8 at 12:30 pm. Registration is free! For kids 12 years and younger, there will be stories and bingo, Clifford’s Big Movie, and carnival style eats. For the teens, we have fun for you too, complete challenges to be entered to win a gift basket which includes 4 passes to Calaway Park. Library membership not required, but as always, encouraged.
A message from the Village of Standard…
Spring Cleaning??? The garbage truck is available for use, just call the office and schedule a time. Public works will drop off and pick it up when done and take it to the transfer site.
Are you 50 + and needing to get into Calgary? The senior’s center organizes trips into Calgary for shopping or appointments. The next trip in is on Tuesday, July 11 and the destination is the Market Mall. Here are the particulars; your care assistant is welcome to join you, sign up is at the se- nior’s center by noon the Friday before departure, membership is not required, bus departs from Standard at 8:15 am and leaves Calgary at 3 pm. Ice Cream in the park is back. On Tuesday, July 11, from 2 -3 pm join in for a picnic with stories, songs, crafts, games, and yummy ice cream. This program is brought to you by 5 for Life and is free to attend, no registration required. Please bring a blanket or chair to sit on. In case of rain it will be moved indoors to the Standard Municipal Library.
Only two sports have ever been played on the moon, one is golf, and the other is the javelin throw. Save The Date - Friday, July 21, 2017. You can test your skills at this year’s Standard Municipal Library’s annual golf tournament fundraiser. Includes, 18 holes of best ball golf, the ever-popular prime rib supper, a silent auction and tons of prizes or join in for supper only. The library is gratefully accepting prize, or silent auction donations. Hole sponsorship is available and includes 2 tickets to the prime rib supper.
