A message from the Village of Standard…

A friendly reminder that it is the homeowner’s responsibility to trim bushes and trees along the sidewalks of their property. Also, rain barrels are available to purchase at the village office.

The Standard Fire De- partment is in need of used blankets. For pick up contact Cathy Petersen at 403 934 8597, or drop off at the fire hall. Thank you in advance!

In 1946, Swiss chemist Franz Greiter introduced what may have been the first effective modern sunscreen. With the high temperatures remember to be sun smart and “Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap.” Slip into a shirt and shade, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat and wrap on sunglasses. And, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Did you know… The Canadian flag didn’t exist until 1965, and O Canada officially became the national anthem in 1980. Both being things we identify as Canadian and yet, they’re not even 50 years old!
