Verdant Valley Eye Opener
Visitors at the home of Elson and Pat McDougald on the July 1st weekend were Pat’s cousin Peggy and her husband Walter Allegretto, their daughter Elizabeth and her husband Michael Ngan and their four children from Edmonton. They all attended the pancake breakfast and parade. On Sunday they visited the Tyrrell Museum. On Friday evening Peggy’s son Peter Allegretto and wife Jenny and son Robbie of Calgary joined them for supper.
The McDougald family was very involved in the July 1st parade. Elson drove his chuck wagon with four horse hitch of Clydesdales displaying the Verdant Valley Agricultural Society’s congratulations to Canada’s 150th birthday ban- ner. Delaney McDougald, Austin, Levi and Heidi Veno were his helpers. Connor McDougald drove Elson’s Dad’s refurbished 1951 Chev truck. Gary Collins drove Elson’s refurbished 1939 MMU tractor. This tractor was previously owned by John Rowe. Brad, Koren and Elli-Anna were on the 4H float while Camryn danced her way around the route with the AMR Dance float. What a busy day for this family.
Our sympathy to Fred and Gerri Shadlock and family on the passing this week of their son-in-law, Michael Donovan, loving husband of their daughter Barb. Michael was only 54 years of age but suffered from Parkinson’s disease. He passed away in Medicine Hat. He was noted for his dry humour and love of restoring vehicles. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
