And the hot dry conditions continue!! Our farm is located beside a prairie slough which has given us much pleasure over the years. We have enjoyed: watching ducks and geese nest, swans and loons stop on their migratory path; muskrats make their homes; our children skating on the pond and perhaps most of all the sight of our neighbour’s cows and calves lounging on the edges of the water. However, today we are “enjoying” the alkali storms coming off the now dry slough. Our trees look like they have been frosted and, if the wind is from the right direction, we have the “pleasure” of looking through an alkali snowstorm. This brings back dreaded memories from the 1980’s.
Two Craigmyle organizations have recently elected new executives. At the recent Annual Civic Center Association meeting Edwin Burt replaced Gail Olmstead as President; Sue Eggins accepted the position of Secretary for another term; and Brandy Burt replaced Debi Olmstead as Treasurer. Shelagh Olmstead assumed the position of Director Chair with Debi Olmstead, Brent Olmstead, Sean Olmstead and Gail Olmstead taking on Director Positions.
The Civic Center Association has been working diligently on an ongoing basis to improve the former old school to make it a viable community resource in our hamlet. They are pleased to announce that they have completed the replacement of all main floor windows, as well as other significant improvements to the main floor. Kudos to the Civic Center Association!
The Craigmyle Church Women have also had a change of executive recently. Bev Bergman and Mabel Burrows will remain as Chairperson and Treasurer respectively, with Joy Bjorn replacing Betty Olmstead as Secretary.
Congratulations to Craigmyle’s Justine Johnson who will wed Hanna’s Carson Berry on September 2 of this year. Justine’s family and friends will be hosting a pre-bridal party for her on Sunday, August 13 at 2:00 pm in the Delia Hall. All are invited to stop by to give Justine your best wishes, enjoy a great lunch with refreshments, enjoy fellowship with those present, and contribute in some small way to Justine’s and Carson’s new life together. The best news about the plans this young couple are making is that they intend to take up resi- dence in our community.
Congratulations to Colby and Nicole Graham who were married on July 15 in Denise Battle’s beautiful farm yard. Following the ceremony all guests enjoyed a bounteous reception in the Delia hall. The young couple will take up residence in Langdon, Alberta.
