The heat continues- it is a choice between watering the grass or the garden so the grass will do without, with the high cost of water there is no question of doing both. I miss the days on the farm when water was plentiful and free. One wonders how long before the crops will begin to suffer if rain doesn’t come soon. How the firefighters must be watching the skies and hoping for a three day rain!
If you enjoy horses, you will want to take in the Verdant Valley Draft Horse Competition on Saturday, July 29 at the Verdant Valley Community Centre, at 12 o’clock noon. Anything to do with horses is an in- teresting event well worth attending.
The Delia Slow Pitch Tournament is coming up in August, so contact Jeff Rasmussen at 403 820 1721 to register a team or to find more information about the tournament.
Last Friday afternoon the members of the Delia Drop In Centre went for a drive to check out ‘Cattlemunns’ gift shop and the Lilac Room. We found it was well worth the drive - from Delia go on Highway 9 to the Watts turn off and then 23 km. north. The drive itself was interesting, past farm land and a chain of lakes until we reached the gift shop with its trove of treasures. If you have a chance to go it is well worth the trip. But the most important part is the peanut butter pie or the sticky toffee pudding at the Lilac Room. You will be going back for seconds.
Thursday, July 20, is pot luck at the Delia Drop In Centre, at 12 noon sharp. Cards are played on Friday afternoons starting at 1 p.m. Coffee mornings continue through the summer on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, come for coffee and a visit with your neighbors.
Frances Andersen will celebrate another birthday on July 20, Blair Herzog and Mel Metzger both have a birthday on July 24, Colin Andersen has a birthday on July 29 and Brian and Nancy Stiles will celebrate 27 years of wedded bliss on the 28th of July. Have an awesome special day!
