We have some very hard working volunteers in our community and I just want to give them a pat on the back and a big thank you for putting this all together. It was a great event.

Congratulations to Brad and Beth Dundas on their marriage also on July 8 in Hussar. The couple held their reception and dance in the Hussar hall where they had the Larry Vannatta Band play for the dance. Thank goodness the hall had air conditioning as the heat was at times unbearable. Many out of town guests attended as far away as Shawville, Quebec, Lacombe, Carstairs, Calgary and Camrose. Lorilee and Wade had lunch the next day at their home in Hussar for their family from out of town and the bridal party. Thanks to the many friends and family for helping out with Brad and Beth’s special day.

A funeral for Ella Hein was held at the Hussar Hall on July 10. A huge crowd attended with many family members. Interment was held later on that day in Bassano. Before Ella and George retired to Drumheller they lived just east of Hussar on Duck Lake Road. They always had time for a visit and made you feel very welcome. They will be fondly missed in this community.
Tuesday, July 11 saw the skies open up and rain on Hussar, I hear anywhere from one inch to two inches in this area. The crops were really needing this moisture.
Congratulations to Barb Slemko who competed in the St. Albert marathon on Saturday, July 15. The race was almost cancelled due to a heat advisory that day. Thankfully, the 42.2 km race went ahead despite the heat. Barb was thrilled to be the third place female finisher in the race. Awesome job Barb, the heat couldn’t have made it easy.
On July 16 Wade and Lorilee Dundas volunteered for the Alberta Beef Producers venue at the Calgary Stampede. It’s always interesting talking to so many different people from all over the world. On the way home Wade and Lorilee picked up their two granddaughters (Payton and Madi Shuman) who are staying with them for a holiday.
I really appreciate any news sent to me either by phone 403-787-2225 or please send Lorilee any news you may have at email@example.com.
