The Stan­dard Lions Club in­vites you to their an­nual chicken and corn roast sup­per fundraiser. Join in on Fri­day, Septem­ber 1, from 5 - 7 pm. Har­vest take out is also avail­able. Sup­port your com­mu­nity in a tasty way. See you there!

A mes­sage from the Vil­lage of Stan­dard…

The re­spon­si­bil­ity of a dog own­ers in our Vil­lage, is to en­sure that your dog is not run­ning at large, so you must se­cure your dog so it will not leave your premises. You must also make sure your dog does not; bite, bark, chase, up­set garbage, or defe­cate on prop­erty other than your own. An an­nual li­cense must be pur­chased from the Vil­lage of­fice on or be­fore March 2.

A foot care clinic is of­fered ev­ery six weeks at the Se­nior’s Cen­tre. The next date avail­able is Thurs­day Septem­ber 7. Please con­tact Donna at 403-644-3849 for more in­for­ma­tion.

If you have no plans for the long week­end the Club is cater­ing to a wed­ding and could use some help. Sup­per Satur­day night and Break­fast Sun­day is on the agenda. If you can help you know who to phone.

Have you marked it on your cal­en­dar? If you are one of those that can plan ahead then this is for you. The Turkey Sup­per is Oc­to­ber 22. I can taste the turkey al­ready. If you have any ex­tra veg­gies you know who to phone!

Thank-you Spe­cial Ar­eas! We love how great the ditches look now that they are cut. Seems like they took a wider swath this year or is that just 100 coun­tries in 60 lan­guages. Up to 90 days of back is­sues are avail­able. You can read your fa­vorite in­ter­na­tional, na­tional and provin­cial news­pa­pers from cover to cover, some­times even be­fore the pub­li­ca­tions hit the news­stands. The pub­li­ca­tions are full-colour, full-for­mat, and can be read at home or on the go! Mem­ber­ship has its priv­i­leges!

Also we do not ap­pre­ci­ate our Lo­cal Fire De­part­ments enough. They have re­ally been put to the task this year and we need to thank them for the job they do. I am sure some of them are feel­ing like it is a full time job. Thank you!
