The buses are out and it’s back to school now for sure. I see lots of our local kids getting ready to head back to secondary school as well. Good luck to all and enjoy every minute.
On my drive back from Medicine Hat on Monday I noticed there is a lot of crops finished up and mostly canola left in the fields. Many farms must have got a bit of that rain on Sunday night as it looked like a pretty quiet day for combines across that part of the country.
The winner of the Munson 300 Raffle draw for September 2 was Mary Newton of Rumsey. Congratulations Mary and thank you very much for purchasing a ticket and supporting the Munson and Area Community Association.
There have been a couple of special birthday celebrations over the last few weeks. Happy Birthday to Doug Stanger Sr who celebrated a big birthday a couple of weeks ago with family and friends. Also, happy birthday to Lil Hansen who celebrated her 90th birthday on the weekend with family and friends in attendance. As a child, I remember Lil made the very best chocolate chip cookies. I’m not sure what her recipe was but it was a little different and maybe it had something to do with baking them a little closer to sea level down in the coulee there. Happy birthday to you both and wishes for many more celebrations.
The Dinosaur Valley Half marathon will be happening this coming Sunday, on September 10, starting at the Badlands Community Facility. The event includes a half marathon (21K), 10K and 5K family fun run. It’s a great event that attracts over 400 participants per year. It’s a great family event which runs along the beautiful paths of our valley. For more information check the website at www.Dinosaurhalf.com. If you are interested in volunteering at the event give me a call. The event starts at 7:00 a.m. and is all wrapped up by noon on the Sunday.
Enjoy this short week and the lovely weather. Remember to watch for farm machinery on the road and the big yellow school buses that are carrying such precious cargo.
