Just in time f or the province’s of­fi­cial nom­ina tion day, the Vil­lage of Big Val­ley will b e ho sting an Alb erta Ur­ban Mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties As­so­ci­a­tion (A UMA) c am­paign school at 7:00 p.m. on Mon­day, S eptem­ber 11 a t t he Big Val­ley Dr op-In Cen tre. Spear­headed by Big V al­ley Coun­cil­lor S an­dra S chell, this “Supporting Women in Local G overn­ment” e vent is de signed t o he lp women g ain inf or­ma­tion a bout their p oten­tial in lo cal government. The e ven­ing will inc lude an A UMA r ecorded a udio pr es­en­ta­tion and ke ynote sp eaker, Clive mayor Anita Gil­lard will be on hand t o ans wer que stions af­ter the pre­sen­ta­tion. Women in t he distr ict ar e in­vited to come ex­plore the pos­si­bil­i­ties and g ain t he con­fi­dence to run for pub­lic of­fice. Snac ks and r efresh­ments will be served. Thank s t o the en­ergy, en­thu­si­asm and cre­ativ­ity of our sum­mer stu­dents, we wer e a ble t o pro­vide a p op­u­lar and en­ter­tain­ing place for the chil­dren of our com­mu­nity to sp end e very T ues­day, Wed­nes­day and Th urs­day af­ter­noon dur ing A ugust. Fun games, crafts, ac­tiv­i­ties and a we­some st ories c el­e­brat­ing C anada wer e t he fo­cus this year.
