Just in time f or the province’s official nomina tion day, the Village of Big Valley will b e ho sting an Alb erta Urban Municipalities Association (A UMA) c ampaign school at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, S eptember 11 a t t he Big Valley Dr op-In Cen tre. Spearheaded by Big V alley Councillor S andra S chell, this “Supporting Women in Local G overnment” e vent is de signed t o he lp women g ain inf ormation a bout their p otential in lo cal government. The e vening will inc lude an A UMA r ecorded a udio pr esentation and ke ynote sp eaker, Clive mayor Anita Gillard will be on hand t o ans wer que stions after the presentation. Women in t he distr ict ar e invited to come explore the possibilities and g ain t he confidence to run for public office. Snac ks and r efreshments will be served. Thank s t o the energy, enthusiasm and creativity of our summer students, we wer e a ble t o provide a p opular and entertaining place for the children of our community to sp end e very T uesday, Wednesday and Th ursday afternoon dur ing A ugust. Fun games, crafts, activities and a wesome st ories c elebrating C anada wer e t he focus this year.
