School’s in! The big yellow buses are running again and you can hear the children playing during recess. They sound like they are having so much fun, makes me wish I was in grade three again and could join in the fun! I would be out of date though, I don’t think saddle shoes and knee socks that we wore back then are in vogue with the younger crowd today!
Speaking of school, here are the new public hours at the Delia Library for September.: Monday – 2:30 until 6 p.m., Tuesday- 4 to 5 p.m, Wednesday- 2:30 till 6 p.m, Thursday- 3:30 to 5 p.m, Friday – closed in September. Makerspace open hours are Mondays – 2:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday -open from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
On Thursday, September 7, 2017, all community members are invited to a Delia Canada 150 Breakfast served up by the Delia School and the Delia Elks from 8 – 9:30 a.m. at the Community Centre. Breakfast will be followed by a program starting at 9:30 There will be a giant maple leaf picture taken outside following the program so we ask those attending to wear red and white or any Canadian gear. There may even be prizes for those decked out Canadian style. Special events will then follow the picture. Don’t miss this special Delia event!
Don’t forget about the bus trip to the Ukrainian Cultural Village and the Harvest of the Past, sponsored by the Drumheller Travel Club to recruit new members to the club. The bus is Loren Charters from Hanna, they will leave Hanna at 5:40 a.m from the Community Centre and will leave Drumheller at 6:45 and 7:00 a.m. Please contact Murray or Pat Johnson at 403 854 4695 for more information.
The Delia Drop In Centre will be celebrating the birthdays of members and friends in September at a Birthday Party at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, September 13, at the Drop In. everyone is invited to join in the fun. Come for cake and a fun afternoon. The general meeting is scheduled for Thursday morning, September 14. Pot luck at the Centre is at noon on Thursday, September 21. Come join us for lunch. Cards are still played every Friday afternoon at the Drop In Centre, starting at 1 p.m., new players are very welcome.
Prayers and get well wishes from the community are going out to Darren Denzler in the hospital. Hope all goes well for you Darren and you will soon be home again. Best wishes to a member of our Drop In Centre, Terry Hodson, in hospital in Hanna. We all miss you at the Centre, Terry, take care.
