Inmate sentenced for Drug charges
An inmate at the Drumheller Institution was sentenced to five and half years for possession of heroin for the purposes of trafficking. Philip McLaughlin appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, September 8. He faced two charges of possession for purposes of trafficking.
On April 19 of this year, a canine unit at the Drumheller Institution made a positive indication of drugs on McLaughlin’s person. He was dry celled, and eventually revealed two packages, one contained heroine
He was sentenced to 5 and half years, consecutive to his current sentence. A second charge of possession of MDMA for the purpose of trafficking was withdrawn.
