In­mate sen­tenced for Drug charges

An in­mate at the Drumheller In­sti­tu­tion was sen­tenced to five and half years for pos­ses­sion of heroin for the pur­poses of traf­fick­ing. Philip McLaugh­lin ap­peared in pro­vin­cial court in Drumheller on Fri­day, Septem­ber 8. He faced two charges of pos­ses­sion for pur­poses of traf­fick­ing.

On April 19 of this year, a ca­nine unit at the Drumheller In­sti­tu­tion made a pos­i­tive in­di­ca­tion of drugs on McLaugh­lin’s per­son. He was dry celled, and even­tu­ally re­vealed two pack­ages, one con­tained hero­ine

He was sen­tenced to 5 and half years, con­sec­u­tive to his cur­rent sen­tence. A sec­ond charge of pos­ses­sion of MDMA for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing was with­drawn.
