What a welcome from Old Man Winter this past week! I hope everyone made it through and this week’s weather predictions seem a little gentler. I think we have a good snow cover to start the winter so the hay fields, perennials and pastures should be well protected until spring.
The Fall Supper on Saturday night was a huge success with families coming from near and far to enjoy the delicious turkey and all the fixings. The selection of pies was amazing making it hard for anyone to pick only one piece.
Thank you to all the volunteers who cooked turkeys, made salads and pies, worked hard in our new kitchen to serve and clean. It was a successful night for the Ag Society and we thank everyone for their contribution.
The Ag Society has started selling tickets for the chance to win a Drone and mini-ipad valued at $2200.00. With a limit of 750 tickets being sold over the winter. We will have the draw at the Spring Fling so you have all winter to purchase as many as you like. They will be available at the curling rink, with any Ag member and at the library. Also the Ag society is looking for new members to join as directors this December so consider signing up and see what is happening behind the scenes throughout the year. The Christmas Market will be the next event held at the hall on Saturday, November 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We have over 20 vendors and crafters coming to the Market so it should be a great day to get your Christmas shopping underway.
The Super League has started with 12 teams hitting the ice on Friday night. They will continue to play every Friday night with a couple weekends of curling as well so come in and watch some good curling, enjoy a meal at the concession and cheer on your favorites.
The Ladies Open league started on Tuesday, November 7 and will continue all winter as well, the Open league will start on Thursday, November 9, call Rod Nelson at 403-368-2401 if you have a team that would be interested in joining or if you would like to be put on the spare list.
The Junior curling will start on November 21 running from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. every Tuesday from then on. Give Brooks Watts a call (403-368-2357) if you have a young one who might be interested in joining. Quote for the week: Whoever said, “Do the job right the first time and you’ll never have to do it again.” Never shoveled snow in a Canadian winter. – Bob and Doug MacKenzie.
Have a great week, everyone.
