Verdant Valley Eye Opener
The annual Community Christmas party was held on Sunday, December 3, at the Community Center. Set up and decorating were done in short order on Saturday morning with a good gang of helpers. We enjoyed a delicious catered turkey and ham supper at 5:00 followed by much visiting and some Christmas music supplied by Toni Wilson on the piano. Lots of youngsters welcomed Santa (and some were not so enthusiastic) who talked to each little one brave enough to sit on his knee and gave each one a treat bag. Door prizes were won by Logan James, Helen Leonhardt and Fred Ewing
The future of our community looks to be in good hands with the young families that are now living here and we welcome all of you. The evening was sponsored by the Verdant Valley Ag Society and about ninety people enjoyed the first celebration of the season.
Lots of other Christmas activities are taking place in town so take part and enjoy the season. Grace Lutheran Church is putting on “A Night in Bethlehem” on Saturday, December 9, from 5:30 to 8:30. It is a walk through a number of shops in Bethlehem as it was two thousand years ago. There are interactive activities at each shop for children and adults and also a stable with live animals. There is no charge and everyone is welcome to spend some time wandering through the town.
There are lots of December birthdays. Happy birthday this week to Tina (Mepham) Wegner and Koren McDougald on December 7, Tami ( Wade) Bowers, Loretta Wilson and Devin Hatt on December 8, Ron Leonhardt on December 10, Kathy Leonhardt on December 12, and Sophia Landry on December 13.
