Supporters of the Canadian Badlands Passion Play have a treat for music lovers to chase the winter blues away.

For years, they have been organizing the Memories of Christmas Concert in January. This has proved a popular and successful event. Executive Director of the Canadian Badlands Passion Play, Vance Neudorf says they have added a bit of a twist.

“It’s Memories of Christmas, but it is a little different this year because it is going to be themed on Handel’s Messiah,” said Neudorf.

“The choirs got together earlier and said (let’s take a different approach) so we will have some soloists and some instrumentalists, so it is going to be fun.”

The concert is a fundraiser for the Canadian Badlands passion play. A free-will offering will be taken.

The Passion Play is pre- paring for its 25th-anniversary performance, and already it has sold out its opening night.

“The other performances are selling pretty well, so it is looking good, and there is going to be some really interesting changes this year as always,” said Neudorf.

The concert is this Sunday, January 14 at 4 p.m. at the Badlands Community Facility. It features the Rosebud Masterworks Choir, the Three Hills Community Choir as well as orchestras and soloists.
