Former councillor Clark Garrett resigned shortly after being elected, paving the way for a by-election.
The nomination day was on Tuesday, January 2, and two Carbon residents will be competing for the vacant seat.
Dan Clow and Judy Quintin-Arvidson have filed their papers to be candidates.
Election day is Friday, February 2.
