Charges re­sult from traf­fic stop

Two peo­ple are fac­ing drug charges Drumheller on Satur­day evening.

At about 5:30 p.m. on April 28, Drumheller RCMP con­ducted a traf­fic stop on a van. The li­cense plate did not match, and po­lice quickly de­ter­mined the li­cense plate had been stolen out of Three Hills.

Fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed drugs in­side the ve­hi­cle in the pos­ses­sion of the male driver and fe­male pas­sen­ger.

The two oc­cu­pants were arrested and 40-year-old Richard Pa­trick Bixby of Stet­tler and 31-year-old Ni­c­hole Rae­lene Hatt of Drumheller have both been charged with three counts of pos­sess­ing a con­trolled sub­stance for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing (metham­phetamine, car­fen­tanil, and LSD).

Bixby faces an ad­di­tional charge of pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty un­der $5000, and Hatt has also been charged with posses- af­ter a traf­fic stop in sion of a pro­hib­ited de­vice (brass knuck­les) as well as fail­ing to com­ply with her pro­ba­tion or­der.

Both sub­jects were held for a ju­di­cial in­terim re­lease. A Jus­tice of the Peace re­leased Bixby on a $1,500 no cash re­cog­ni­zance and re­leased Hatt on a $2,500 no cash re­cog­ni­zance. Both are sched­uled to ap­pear in pro­vin­cial court in Drumheller on May 11, 2018.
