Pioneer Trail hosted the Senior’s Birthday Party on Tuesday, September 4, at 2 p.m. We had approximately 40 people in attendance. There were 14 people who were and are going to be celebrating their birthday in the months of September and October. We all enjoyed the wonderful musical talents of the Arthritics. All present enjoyed a wonderful cake made by Barb D. and ice cream as well as great company. The lucky winner of the door prize was Shirley H. Thank you to all who made this day very special for all those present who were celebrating a birthday. Happy Birthday to all those who will be celebrating a birthday in September and October.
Pioneer Trail would like to send their deepest condolences to the family of Lucy Sanders who passed away on Thursday, August 30. She will be missed by many good friends. Lucy’s funeral was held on Saturday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church.
We have a large amount of material and craft supplies at Pioneer Trail for you to purchase, drop by and see the great selections we have to offer.
Four of our members travelled to Edmonton from September 7 to 9, for the 55+ Fall Seniors Games. Linda Traquair entered the 55+ team for bocce, the team did not qualify for any medals, better luck next time. Mike Barker entered the 70+ team for bocce and they came home with a Bronze Medal, well done Mike and all who played. Margaret Neilson and Barb Barker entered for the 70+ floor shuffleboard. They played well on Saturday, but when they played on Sunday, they went to pieces! No medals for this time but better luck next time. Everyone had a great time, met a lot of new people, especially the volunteers.
Thursday night Bridge had an early start as we played on Wednesday night due to a few players who will be moving away and will not be able to make our first official night. But here are the scores from that night 1st place: David and Kathy Walling (2950), 2nd place: Jennie DeMille and Lilo Rolf (2910), 3rd place: Margaret Sparling and Don Robertson (2790). Well done players. Bridge officially starts on September 20 at Pioneer Trail. Early notice for the upcoming Pioneer Trail Cribbage Tournament, to be held on Saturday, October 20. More information to come in the coming weeks.
Have a great week.
