Horse passes after getting stuck in Rosedale well
A horse has died after getting stuck in a well inside a Rosedale workshop on Thursday, September 6.
Drumheller and Rosedale Fire Departments responded to the call of an adult horse vertically stuck in the indoor well around 5 p.m. The horse was stuck about six feet down with it’s head upwards when crews arrived. Grant’s Oilfield Service was called to the scene with a picker truck, as well as a veterinarian from Valley Veterinary Clinic.
“We couldn’t save it but it was a valiant attempt,” says Drumheller fire chief Bruce Wade. “It was a very difficult situation to get any kind of hoisting equipment or straps around it.”
The horse passed away before it could be rescued and the body was extracted shortly after.
