Deepest sympathy from the community to the Mason families on the passing of Emma Mason recently, sincere condolences at this very sad time.
On Saturday, October 13, the Delia Agricultural Society will sponsor their annual fall fair. Doors open at 2 noon to a variety of exhibits and activities. One special event this year will be the unveiling of a sign by the Delia and District Historical Society and the Alberta Historic Resources Branch at 11:30 am. at the Delia Museum. The sign, sponsored by the Alberta Historical Resources Foundation, recognizes Violet McCully Barss, who was Reeve (the title used for mayors of Villages at that time) of Delia from 1920-1922. Violet Barss became an influential person in Alberta and is mentioned in several editions of Who’s Who in Alberta. She was an active member of the community and served as local health nurse for most of her life.

The October Birthday Party at the Delia Drop In Centre was held on Wednesday afternoon, with eleven members attending. Joan and Charle were hostesses for the day. Card Bingo was played with Charle calling cards in a most interesting dialect, while Joan handed out the bingo prizes. The hostesses served a really delicious red velvet cake for dessert, Birthday people for August, September and October were Lisa, Barb, and Eleanor The door prize , a Halloween decoration, was won by Eleanor.
The foot nurse from Hanna, Diane McCuaig, will be at the Drop In on Tuesday, October 16, during coffee morning. Stop in for coffee and have Diane trim your toes.
The next general meeting at the Drop In Centre will be on Thursday, October 18, followed by the pot luck lunch at noon. Come for the meeting and stay for pot luck.
Walmart will sponsor a flu Clinic at the Community Centre meeting room on Tuesday, October 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Hanna Health Unit will hold their Flu Clinic at the Drop In centre on Friday, November 2, from 11 until 2. Bring your Alberta Health Card with you when you attend the flu clinic of your choice.
The Scholastic Enchanted Forest Book Fair is on at the Delia Library October 17-24 and will be on during library hours. October 19 is Family Event Night, when a student could win $50. in Books, $25 for your family and $25 for your child’s classroom.
