Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. At least it was pretty nice weather for these few days after the snow earlier in the week. Have pretty much finished getting the yard ready for winter, just waiting for all the leaves to fall from the trees so they can be raked up.
We had Aunt Bernice Llewellyn visiting with Mom Juanita. She flew back on Sunday and then son Josh, Hailey and Mom came for Thanksgiving tur- key and all the fixins. Was a very nice day.
Don’t forget the Harvest Dinner at the Carbon Valley Community Church on October 14 at noon. Turkey will be provided, please bring a side dish such as a salad, vegetables, buns or a dessert. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Carbon Fire Department is having an Open House on October 10 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Free chili and hot dogs will be available. Bring the family and tour the new building.
Congratulations to Mikey’s Place for being the draw winner of September for the Carbon Community Calendar. The 2019 edition of the Calendar will be available at the Carbon Lions Oktoberfest on October 20. The Carbon Library is sponsoring the Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. There will be pancakes, eggs, beef and pork sausage. Donations will be welcome. There will also be a traditional German supper from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., sausage, cabbage rolls, perogy and coleslaw.
An Alumni volleyball tournament goes on Friday, October 19 to Saturday, October 20. Contact Marci at 403-820-5977 to enter your team. There will also be 2 Bit Carnival at the Carbon School on October 20 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. There will be games, prizes and a cupcake sale. An adult cabaret will also be going on at the Hall from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Did you know that on June 28, 1923, Mr. Bruels had installed the first gas pumps in Carbon?
