A Fall Open House will be held at The Wool Shop on Oc­to­ber 13 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Ev­ery­one is in­vited for re­fresh­ments, door prizes and an op­por­tu­nity to do some shop­ping at this unique venue. The Hussar Fish and Game Club is hold­ing its an­nual Turkey Shoot at the gun range on Oc­to­ber 14 be­gin­ning at 12 noon. Ev­ery­one in­ter­ested in this event is wel­come to join the mem­bers to par­tic­i­pate.

Oc­to­ber 14 is also the date the Curl­ing Club will be hold­ing their an­nual gen­eral meet­ing at the rink, be­gin­ning at 7 p.m.

The Hussar 4H Club will hold their or­ga­ni­za­tional meet­ing on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hussar Hall. Any­one in­ter­ested in be­ing part of the club this year should plan on at­tend­ing. Par­ents are strongly en­cour­aged to at­tend this meet­ing as well. The new Hussar Trip Class would like to ex­tend an in­vi­ta­tion to ev­ery­one to the an­nual Turkey Sup­per on Oc­to­ber 17, 2018. Sup­per will be served from 5 - 7 p.m. at the com­mu­nity hall.

On Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 21, 2018 the Trip Class is also host­ing the an­nual Fall Fair at the hall from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Lunch will be avail­able for pur­chase and ven­dors may con­tact Corey Ann San­dum at rock­vun@magtech.ca, Face­book, or 403-787-2410.

This year the chil­dren’s Hal­loween Party will be hosted by the Hussar Curl­ing Club. The party will take place at the com­mu­nity hall on Oc­to­ber 31 from 4 - 6 p.m. They are look­ing for small do­na­tions and vol­un­teers of all ages to run crafts and games. Colleen Arm­strong and Pam Col­lett would like to send out a big thank you to ev­ery­one who helped make ap­ple pies over the 3 day event. There were 667 pies made and sold with the help of many vol­un­teers and pur­chasers. We couldn’t do it with­out ei­ther- thank you so much. The girls would like to thank Terry Arm­strong for pro­vid­ing the de­li­cious treats that were en­joyed dur­ing the breaks. The com­mu­nity would like to thank Colleen and Pam for their time and tal­ents in or­ga­niz­ing this fundraiser- this is the 13th year of them be­ing the “pie bosses”.

The Hussar Ladies Sil­ver and Gold Gala tick­ets are now on sale. The gala will be held Novem­ber 3, 2018 at the Hussar Hall, and there will be some ex­cit­ing new additions this year. Please call Kristin at 403787-2133, or call or text her at 403-901-3112 to pur­chase tick­ets.

The Hussar flu clinic will be held Novem­ber 1 from 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Hussar Sun­down­ers, se­nior cen­tre. Please bring your Al­berta Health Care card and you may wish to wear short sleeves. This ser­vice is pro­vided free of charge.

The Hussar Skat­ing Club will once again be sell­ing Purdy’s Choco­lates as one of their ma­jor fundraisers. If you would like to place an or­der, please talk to one of the skat­ing fam­i­lies. You may also call Paige Sev­ert­son, chair of this fundraiser and the club would like to thank you in ad­vance for your sup­port.

Wheat­land Cross­ing School will be col­lect­ing house­hold bat­ter­ies (A, AA etc.) for safe dis­posal and re­cy­cling later in the school year- so please store them at home un­til the school posts their col­lec­tion date.

The com­mu­nity would like to thank Tom Fraser for his years of ser­vice as a school bus driver, as he is of­fi­cially re­tired from this po­si­tion. The stu­dents and their fam­i­lies on his route are very ap­pre­cia­tive of his ded­i­ca­tion to them over the years and wish him all the best.

Wendy Kaiser, Lacy Kaiser and fi­ancé, Chris and Nikki Faye en­joyed a trail ride/poker rally at Don­alda re­cently. The Hussar rid­ers re­port it was cool but sunny and the scenic route was great.

Danielle Bur­rows and Paula Sol­berg from Farm Credit pre­sented a cheque for $20,000 to Fire Chief Mike Hager and Hussar Ru­ral Fire As­so­ci­a­tion Vice Pres­i­dent Kevin Taubert for the fire de­part­ment’s new ve­hi­cle ex­trac­tion res­cue tools. Thank you to Farm Credit and these ladies for their gen­er­ous dona­tion in sup­port of this es­sen­tial ser­vice in our area.
