The Hussar Fish and Game Club is holding its annual Turkey Shoot at the gun range on October 14 beginning at 12 noon. Everyone interested in this event is welcome to join the members to participate.
October 14 is also the date the Curling Club will be holding their annual general meeting at the rink, beginning at 7 p.m.
The Hussar 4H Club will hold their organizational meeting on Monday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hussar Hall. Anyone interested in being part of the club this year should plan on attending. The new Hussar Trip Class would like to extend an invitation to everyone to the annual Turkey Supper on October 17, 2018. Supper will be served from 5 - 7 p.m. at the community hall.
On Sunday, October 21, 2018 the Trip Class is also hosting the annual Fall Fair at the hall from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Lunch will be available for purchase and vendors may contact Corey Ann Sandum at email@example.com, Facebook, or 403-787-2410.
This year the children’s Halloween Party will be hosted by the Hussar Curling Club. The party will take place at the community hall on October 31 from 4 - 6 p.m. They are looking for small donations and volunteers of all ages to run crafts and games. Colleen Armstrong and Pam Collett would like to send out a big thank you to everyone who helped make apple pies over the 3 day event. There were 667 pies made and sold with the help of many volunteers and purchasers. We couldn’t do it without either- thank you so much. The girls would like to thank Terry Armstrong for providing the delicious treats that were enjoyed during the breaks. The community would like to thank Colleen and Pam for their time and talents in organizing this fundraiser- this is the 13th year of them being the “pie bosses”.

The Hussar flu clinic will be held November 1 from 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Hussar Sundowners, senior centre. Please bring your Alberta Health Care card and you may wish to wear short sleeves. This service is provided free of charge.
The Hussar Skating Club will once again be selling Purdy’s Chocolates as one of their major fundraisers. If you would like to place an order, please talk to one of the skating families. You may also call Paige Severtson, chair of this fundraiser and the club would like to thank you in advance for your support.
Wheatland Crossing School will be collecting household batteries (A, AA etc.) for safe disposal and recycling later in the school year- so please store them at home until the school posts their collection date.
The community would like to thank Tom Fraser for his years of service as a school bus driver, as he is officially retired from this position. The students and their families on his route are very appreciative of his dedication to them over the years and wish him all the best.
Wendy Kaiser, Lacy Kaiser and fiancé, Chris and Nikki Faye enjoyed a trail ride/poker rally at Donalda recently. The Hussar riders report it was cool but sunny and the scenic route was great.
Danielle Burrows and Paula Solberg from Farm Credit presented a cheque for $20,000 to Fire Chief Mike Hager and Hussar Rural Fire Association Vice President Kevin Taubert for the fire department’s new vehicle extraction rescue tools. Thank you to Farm Credit and these ladies for their generous donation in support of this essential service in our area.
