Business manager of the Drumheller Dragons, Dustin Edwards, tells the Mail the Dragons made contact with Fleury when he was through the valley last summer during the Victor Walk.

“We knew about the team here and said they were looking for exposure for the foundation he is part of, Breaking Free,” said Edwards. “We stayed in touch over the summer, and this was the game that worked out for him.”

It will be a full day, however. Fleury has committed to speak at St. Anthony’s School in the morning and then at DVSS in the afternoon.

“In his talk, he is going to touch on the Foundation, he is going to talk about hockey and his story. He is going to talk to the kids about his struggle and his journey,” said Edwards.

At the game, he is scheduled to do the opening faceoff and also visit with people. A portion of the 50/50 at the game will go to support the Breaking Free Foundation.

“I think it is going to be nice. We get to spend the day with the kids and then open up the game that night,” said Edwards.
