The Drumheller Mail - - THE DRUMHELLER MAIL -

Hello Hand Hills...I am not sure what season we are in but it is sure looking like a repeat of last year. Maybe winter starting in October is the new normal! We have to be thankful for the moisture and that the fire ban is over.

If you are looking for a warm place to go have a visit then stop in at the Sunshine Lodge and go knock on Room 412 and Eleanor Rosin will strap on a visit with you. Hope you are enjoying your new home Eleanor. Happy for you!

A very special 80th Birthday Party was held in September for Bernice Cosgrave and her twin sister Bonnie. It was held in the Drumheller Legion and there were lots of memories and sharing of stories from a large crowd. The meal was awesome. Eighty years young and if possible the twins look more alike than ever.

Cody Brown and his family came from Chetwyn B.C. For the Party. Cody lived with the Cosgraves and attended Elmer School. He renewed old friendships. Cody is married and works as a contractor for an oil company. He has purchased a small Ranch and still loves to hunt. Great to see you Cody!

He left this world a better place! Hanna had to say its good-byes to Charlie Fielding as he passed just 16 days short of his 100th birthday. How do you sum up a life that spanned almost a century? It was done in great fashion as the speakers and the family gave heartfelt accolades to this great man. It is sad that Charlie will not be at another Remembrance Day Service but he will be there in spirit! Rest in Peace Charlie. We will remember you.

Another sad note of the passing of a great lady. Clara Armstrong lived a full life on various ranches, raised a family of five children, operated a very successful ladies clothing store, drove bus and so much more. I guess one could say she had done it all and it was all done with Grace. Rest in Peace Clara. Your ties to the Hills are remembered. Condolences to her Family.

Everyone is happy! There is a new baby on the Neu Muehl Colony. Mason, baby boy of Martha and Chris arrived safe and sound and is a real joy for his parents, grandparents Ed and Barbara and all the aunts and uncles and cousins. He is surrounded by love. Congratulations!

I missed him but now he gets special recognition! Rexstin Griffith, son of Kasey and Shaina, is off to Kindergarten in Delia this year. This little cowboy will be sure to spice up the classroom as he is a real character. Enjoy your year Mr. Griffith!

The Donna Griffith Memorial was a huge success again this year. Weather wise it was not the greatest but the show did go on. I believe that Donna was sending us much needed moisture! The kids came to rodeo and have fun and that is just what they did. 150+ entries made for a full day of family fun! The All Round Family went to the Trygve and Jolynn Pugh (Griffith) Family (how fitting). All Round Cowboy was Jace Powell. The All Round Cowgirl was Keely Pugh, Donna’ s Granddaughter. Thanks to Tamara Quaschnick for putting together this great Family Event. See you next year for Rodeo # 4.

There is going to be a new school in Delia in the very near future and the Hand Hills Club has made a donation to this Venture. The proceeds from the Ranchers Ball, the Turkey Supper, the Charity Sale and the Valentine’s Steak and Lobster is earmarked for the Delia School Enhancement Society. Come out and support these functions and help make the Delia School a reality.

Congratulations to Spencer Fullerton and Morgan Horvath on their recent engagement. I have not heard of the date for the wedding but I can see Tracy and Stan doing the Happy dance along with Morgan and Spencer! Another young couple for the area. Happy happy for this couple!

YeeHaw to Hanna! Congratulations to the Hanna Rodeo Association and the Town of Hanna for another well run event. Your time and effort does not go unnoticed!

There will be a Halloween Party at the Club. Bring your kids out for homemade pizza, candy/ goodies and fun! A few activities are planned so if any parents would like to help please phone Marilyn. Maybe you would like to help with the pizza making! Help is always welcome. See you on October 31!

Till next time...Remember to be thankful and think of others as you go about your busy lives.
