Date set for youth charged with mur­der

A 16-year-old girl charged with first-de­gree mur­der in re­la­tion to the death of a man near Mor­rin had a date set for her pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing.

The youth who can­not be iden­ti­fied as per the pro­vi­sions of the Youth Crim­i­nal Jus­tice Act made a brief ap­pear­ance via closed-cir­cuit tele­vi­sion in pro­vin­cial court in Drumheller on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 26. She is charged along with Mun­son area res­i­dent Dy­lan Howard in the death of Fazal Rehm- an, whose body was found with a burn­ing ve­hi­cle near Mor­rin on Oc­to­ber 16, 2017.

The youth was ini­tially charged in June of last year of ac­ces­sory, af­ter the fact, of mur­der and at­tempt­ing to ob­struct jus­tice. Th­ese were later up­graded to mur­der. Lawyer Hugh Sum­merville acted as agent for the youth’s de­fense coun­sel An­drea Urquhart. Her pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing in Youth Court was sched­uled for May 28-31 in Drumheller.
