Delia Senior News
Remember to fall back on November 4, as daylight savings time ends again, so turn your clocks back on Saturday night. Do you think the powers that be will ever smarten up and end changing our time twice a year. It makes no sense and serves no purpose. Saskatchewan stays on daylight saving time year round and it works fine. Time to smarten up.
The Delia Curling Club will be having their Annual General Meeting November 5 at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Curling Rink. The club is looking for fresh ideas and welcomes new members and past curlers. Contact Barry Mason at 403 364 2129 or John Clayholt at 403 364 2497 if you would like to curl this year and cannot come to the meeting.
It’s time to pack Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. You can pack your own box or donate individual items to the school and the elementary kids will pack the box for you. Cash donations will also be accepted and used to buy items that we are missing. Boxes and pamphlets are at the school if you need them but any shoe box will do. Drop off packed boxes at the school by Wednesday, November 7. Last year Delia sent out 58 shoeboxes, let’s see if we can top that.
Remember every Tuesday and Thursday morning is coffee time at the Delia Drop In Centre. Come and have a coffee and a chat with your neighbors. Pool tables are available, as are shuffleboard and card games. On November 16, there will be a movie and pizza night at the Drop In, starting at 5 p.m. Mark it on your calendar.
Art sessions have resumed at the Delia school on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome, bring your paints and brushes and come join the group for conversation and fun, just a nice afternoon out, and you get to paint your favorite project.
Mark your calendar for the Christmas Bazaar which will take place at the Community Centre on Saturday, November 10. The Delia library will have their bake sale at the bazaar and are looking for baking donations. They always have a great sale with lots of variety. Hope they have those mini sour cherry pies again- to die for!!
Congratulations to Mike Andersen who just celebrated his 91st birthday. Way to go Mike! Nancy Stiles had a birthday on October 23 and Harry Thompson will be a year older on October 26.
