A 52-year-old Ohsweken man faces a number of charges after a city police officer noticed a damaged validation sticker on a car early Sunday morning. Officers on routine patrol saw a car driving in the area of Alfred Street, at Colborne Street, shortly after 2:30 a.m. Police saw the damaged sticker and stopped the driver. Police discovered the driver was suspended under the Highway Traffic Act, the vehicle permit had expired in 2008, and the plates were not registered to the vehicle. The officer asked the driver for a breath sample using a roadside screening device. Police say the driver refused. He has been charged with refused breath sample and breach of probation, use plate not authorized for vehicle, drive motor vehicle without a valid permit, fail to surrender permit for vehicle, drive while under suspension, and fail to surrender insurance card.
