Se­nior girls bas­ket­ball team en­joy­ing suc­cess

chooses five play­ers to start from a pool of six: Paige Bagshaw, Kennedy Chisholm, Tay­lor Hill, Mad­die San­der­son, Neyla Piovesan and Kennedy Peirce. Con­tribut­ing to the team off the bench are Emma Smith, Kaitlin Thom­son, Madi­son Mc­Gre­gor and Jordi Clark.

“All of th­ese kids have been in our pro­gram since Grade 9 so they all have the ex­pe­ri­ence of mov­ing from our ju­nior pro­gram into our se­nior pro­gram with the same four or five coaches,” said Ja­mula.

Those coaches are Ross Enslev, Pat Wood­burn, Dan Zinn and Larry Hotte.

“In par­tic­u­lar, Ross and Pat have been re­ally pos­i­tive in terms of de­vel­op­ment for our pro­gram,” Ja­mula said. “They both put in a lot of time and a lot of work with th­ese kids.”

So, does Ja­mula think his team is the favourite to win the league cham­pi­onship?

“For us, re­ally, if we de­velop our strengths, we should be able to do well but who knows be­cause the other teams have strengths as well,” he said.

“If we play as a team . . . if we play the right way, we’ll be suc­cess­ful. Our goal is to, and it sounds ridicu­lous, look af­ter our­selves and then things will take care of them­selves.
