Man charged with as­sault­ing of­fi­cer

A 22-year-old Brantford man has been charged with caus­ing a dis­tur­bance, as­sault­ing po­lice, and pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance fol­low­ing a dis­tur­bance late Tues­day morn­ing. Brantford po­lice were called to a Grey Street home where a cou­ple had been ar­gu­ing out­side. The woman went back into the home, fol­lowed by the man, who kicked in the door. The man con­tin­ued to cause a dis­tur­bance, yelling while of­fi­cers tried to speak with him. As an ar­rest was at­tempted, the man re­sisted and fought with of­fi­cers. The man was found to be in pos­ses­sion of a small quan­tity of Xanax, a tran­quil­izer med­i­ca­tion that was not pre­scribed to him. Air com­pres­sor, tools stolen An air com­pres­sor and tools were re­ported stolen af­ter thieves smashed the rear win­dow of a ve­hi­cle parked overnight Mon­day on St. James Street in Brantford.
