Home to host fall open house
Aretirement home in Gananoque is showcasing its awardwinning programs and services at an open house this fall.
Carveth Retirement Lodge, an accredited retirement home in the Thousand Islands, is opening its doors to the public on Sept. 24 from 1 to 4 pm.
The open house is part of a province-wide initiative by the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) to showcase services for people looking for assisted living. The open house will also introduce residents and dedicated & dynamic staff.
Featuring the taste, sound and beauty of Canada, the Carveth Retirement Lodge Fall OpenHouse will feature warm apple cider, fresh cinnamon buns and entertainment by local musicians. Admission is free and open to everyone.
“This open house is a great opportunity to showcase the outstanding lifestyle people can enjoy in retirement,” says Brett Gibson, Administrator. “From delicious food to clean rooms, comfortable surroundings and compassionate health care, our retirement lodge helps people live well, enjoy life and stay active.”
Managers and team members will be on-hand to guide visitors through the layout to fully appreciate the living space such as the dining room, common areas, activity rooms, living quarters and more.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet residents such as Bruce and Inez Leakey who have lived at Carveth Retirement Lodge for more than three years.
Married for 64 years, the duo spends their days reading and working on puzzles. Smiling on a warm summer afternoon, they admit they love their full and active life at Carveth Retirement Lodge.
“Whatmakes the place the best is the great staff,” says Bruce, 82.“There is a lot of good people working here.”
Sitting in matching reclining chairs as birds chirp outside their open patio door, the couple looks happy and relaxed.
“We still have our car,” says Inez warmly. “We can motor-up the street whenever we want.
“We’re quite cozy here,” she adds softly. “We would recommend this place to anyone. We have everything we need.”
