Islanders win second game in row
The Gananoque Islanders won back-to-back games for the first time this season, as they followed up a 7-3 win two Sundays ago over the Amherstview Jetswith a 5-1win over the Campbellford Rebels in a Provincial Junior Hockey League game this past Sunday night.
Garry Smith led the home-ice Isles offensively with four points (two goals, two assists) and nowhas eight points (3G, 5A) in four games since being acquired from the Central CanadaHockey League Tier 2 Westport Rideaus.
Also scoring for the Tod Division fifth-place Islanders, who improved to 6-17-0-0, were Dakota Concannon, Braedyn Asselstine and Aiden Foley.
Gananoque led 2-0 after the first period but just 2-1 heading into the third period before tacking on three final-period goals.
The Isles outshot the 0-24-0-0 Rebels 45-23 in the game.
This week, the Islanders are in Picton on Thursday night to meet the third-place Pirates at 7:30 p.m. before hosting the first-placeNapanee Raiders on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
